EVENTS
The following are our premier signature IIDA NY events, thoughtfully curated to spark inspiration, foster meaningful connections, and strengthen the bonds within our vibrant design community. These events serve as a platform to celebrate creativity, share innovative ideas, and bring together professionals from all corners of the interior design industry.
Color Invasion®
Since 2002, IIDA NY has held the annual networking and stewardship event to celebrate the design community, and encourage guests to dress in costumes aligned with the year’s theme.
It is the IIDA NYs premier annual costumed and themed experience supporting our Student Awards Programs and our philanthropic benefactor, Pajama Program.
IIDANY launched Color Invasion® to bring together hundreds of professionals from New York City’s interior design community, in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Since then it has become an event all look forward to every year.
This event takes place in late October every year.
Leaders Breakfast®
Started in 2005, IIDA NY Leaders Breakfast® is an annual design series where we gather as a community to celebrate the significance of design and honor an individual whose excellence has forged a profound impact on our industry, environment and the broader community. The event also features a renowned guest speaker with a program that engages, enlightens and inspires.
It is one of the largest events of the year for our NY design community. We engage participants from across our New York Chapter; including City Center members, students and young professionals.

Pioneering Design®
Pioneering Design® is an annual lecture series with speakers who are at the forefront of their field. Expanding perceptions, opening discussion & bringing innovative, creative, current and forward thinking programs to the NYC design community.
A Pioneer in design means to impact, change and inspire the “norm.” Opening discussions and visuals that will move the audience through introspective thought and emotion.
This event takes place twice every year.
